Name: Celdara Dawnstrider
Nickname/new name:Vonlys
Fictional Universe: Azeroth (from World of Warcraft)
Sculpt: No doll yet, DZ Celine, Tulip, or female Joe
Sex: Female
Height: 5’5”
Weight: 120
Birthday: October 30th
Sign: Scorpio
Approx. Age: Unknown, but looks roughly 25
Blood Type: A
Bear Name: Lor’thala
Physical Appearance: Celdara is an average weight for her height. For a swordsman, she has relatively very little muscle (obviously more than a Mage but very little compared to other warriors or paladins). Her eyes glow a pale blue. She has a pale complexion with a very small amount of color in her cheeks and lips. Since her abduction, her hair has turned from a vibrant red to a snowy white.
Family: Daughter of a wealthy noble family. Twin and younger sister of Ka’thael Dawnstrider (Diagonal).
Alignment: Neutral
Personality: When she was young, Celdara was considered by everyone to be the perfect highborne child. She was outspoken, confident, intelligent, talented, and maybe even a little bit worldly; she was a child of fortune. However, since her abduction by the Prince Arthas--and all the subsequent events after--she has become very reserved, quiet, and melancholy. Although much more frequent when she first returned to her home in the Eversong Woods, Celdara has often been woken up by night terrors. While she was still recovering, her personality had reverted to a more childlike stage. So much so that she could not be left without supervision for more than a few hours. Upon the completion of her “recovery”--for she will never truly recover--she will never answer to Celdara by anyone but her father, brother, and her nurse (who was her childhood nana). She considers her former self dead, “but through Celdara’s ashes, Vonlys was born.”
History: Celdara was born to two wealthy Highborne Night Elves. Her mother, a follower of Lady Azshara, died during the War of the Ancients. During the Great Sundering and the banishment of the Highborne from Kalimdor, the remainder of the Dawnstrider family fled to the Eastern Kingdoms. Celdara and and her brother grew up calling themselves High Elves; and, although Celdara and Ka’thael lost their mother at a young age, their childhood and adolescence was full of indulgence and praise. During the Third War, while Celdara’s brother was away fighting the scourge, Celdara was abducted by Arthas during his invasion of Silvermoon. She was tortured and brainwashed until she would unquestionably serve the Lich King in the massacre of thousands of people. When the Lich King betrayed many of his followers at Light Hope’s chapel, Celdara fled and began to serve her own hunger and whims. She journeyed throughout the Eastern and Western Plaguelands, setting villiages ablaze and slaughtering the village's inhabitants. When she had depleted her supply of villiages, she settled in a town. There she proclaimed herself queen and would require a daily sacrifice. Twisted as she was, she would force the townsfolk not only choose who amongst them would be sacrificed, but she would also force them to watch the death. During her reign, no citizen of the town was able to leave. If any were caught, she would execute twice the amount of fugitives caught, often choosing from the general populous.
Ka’thael, her brother, found her during an execution, and, being unable to bring her back to her senses, challenged her to a duel to the death. While they battled, the townspeople fled until the ruined town’s populous consisted only of brother and sister. Upon her throne, Ka’thael threw his sister down at sword point. As he prepared to slay his sister, Celdara caught a glance of the their deceased mother’s locket. The Lich King and Frostmourne’s power on Celdara was broken. Finding his sister remorseful, he smuggled her out of the Plaguelands and took her back to their ruined home in Eversong Woods. There he nursed her back to health and partial sanity.
Conversation between Ka’thael and Vonlys:
1: An evilness
“It’s not your fault, you were not yourself.” Ka’thael pleads to her, leaning in closer in hopes to make eye contact.
“No,” Vonlys sighs, “it cannot all be blamed upon the Lich King. It was my fault too; it was my hand. I can’t help but think...” she pauses for a moment, tears running down her face, “to think that deep down inside of me there is an evilness. An evilness I did not know existed... but that the Lich King found...” Vonlys looks at Ka’thael, “I know you would never let me take the blame, Ka’thael, but...you can’t find something that doesn’t exist.” Vonlys turns her face away away from Ka’thael and stifles her sobs.
2: Loss of a Former Life
“I remember waking up in a dark, strange room. The stench of decaying flesh was so strong, I had to force myself not to vomit. I soon realized that I was in a pit of corpses, and that I too was must have been dead... when my captors realized that they had succeeded in their horrible experiment, I was bound and gagged,” Vonlys stops for a second, trying to recollect what happened after. For her, the events of her resurrection into servitude are fuzzy and difficult to remember.
“I remember being taken to another pit... I’m sure of it. It didn’t smell as bad, and it wasn’t so cramped... but the screams... I remember the screams of agony and fear. It seemed like I was chained there for ages... and perhaps I was...” Vonlys squints slightly, as if trying to see something off in the distance, “I remember the light changing... and the beatings... and the torture... and then it all stopped... and I was dragged to my feet. I remember them shoving a sword in my hand and forcing me to fight someone... someone important to me....”
Vonlys stops, trying to recall the far away events. She racks her brain for the answer of who it might have been, but to no avail. She cannot remember and it leaves her with a strong foreboding feeling that she knew them very well. She tries to shake off the feeling and continues.
“I remember asking--pleading--with him to stop. That we didn’t have to fight each other, but he wouldn’t listen; the Lich King had already broke him and his lust for blood and power was insatiable. He charged at me with his weapon raised. I dodged. Our swords came together with a loud clang,” Vonlys pauses, recounting in her head the events of the fight, “We fought ‘till we were exhausted... and then he lounged at me... and I parried and knocked his sword from his hand, and as he ran to recover it, I plunged my sword into his back.” Vonlys’ eyes now filled with tears.
“He crumpled to the floor, face first... and as the heat of the battle dissipated, I had realized what I had done. I ran to him... and turned him over.” Vonlys softly rocks back and forth in her seat, “And... I remember crying out ‘Faeron! Faeron!’” Vonlys--tears streaming down her face--looks at Ka’thael.
Ka’thael clears his throat and speaks, “Faeron... Lightblade? Th-The man you were engaged to?”
Vonlys slowly nods, “He came back to Silvermoon t-to save m-me,” Vonlys covers her face, but through her sobs, Ka’thael can make out, “A-an-d k-k-kill-ed hi-i-m!”
Ka’thael sits back in his seat, trying to absorb the information. Silence dominates the room for quite a while, until Ka’thael pulls Vonlys to his chest, and softly strokes the back her head in hopes to comfort her, “Shhh... It’s alright, dear sister,” Ka’thael waits for Vonlys to calm down before he continues, “It may feel like a lot now, but... seeing how much you suffer... perhaps you did him a favor. Perhaps, you spared him all the pain that you feel now....”
“Brother,” Vonlys buries her head into Ka’thael’s chest, “I’m s-sorry. I’m so-o sorry. I know h-ow c-close you two were,” her whole body shakes as she tries to stifle her sobs.
“My poor sister,” Ka’thael tries to hide the tears and the pain in his voice, “the pain I suffer is nothing compared to yours.”
Likes: Children’s toys, stuffed animals, and pink, frilly dresses.
Dislikes: Once the novelty of an item, event, or person has worn off, Celdara often looks as though she dislikes it--now, whether she does or not is too difficult to decipher, as she is often unsure herself. The only people whom she appears to not dislike are the three people who can call her by her childhood name...and perhaps Aleen, as they are so very similar in disposition.
Note: I will often refer to this character/doll as Celdara before her capture and conversion from evil. However, I will refer to her as Vonlys after her recovery. This also coincides with when she renames herself.
